About Fiona and Saoirse
Fiona and Saoirse have worked on many projects over the last few years for Jack and Jill’s Incognito exhibition, local commissions and most recently have completed our first children’s picture book.
The book tells a story about a birthday party - Saoirse’s daddy will be home soon and they need to get everything ready for the surprise! Everyone has a job to do. They all help each other to get everything ready. Keep an eye on their cheeky dog, though. He has other plans!
Throughout the book, we gain an insight into a day in the life of a family with a child with additional needs and how a wheelchair, a hoist, a feeding tube and some excellent non-verbal communication are all part and parcel.
The two main aims of the book:
For it to be enjoyed by children everywhere.
For gentle conversations to be opened up about additional needs and families of all kinds. Children are curious and open-minded. They have questions galore! We hope that this book provides an opportunity for these questions to be asked and answered in a relaxed manner.
Fiona wrote and illustrated the book. Saoirse loves to paint paper. Fiona took her painted paper and put it into the illustrations throughout the book. So, it is a true collaboration.
We are so proud of this book and we hope you enjoy!
